Position Title:
Assistant Professor of Statistical Science-Tenure Track
Duties & Responsibilities:
• The Department of Statistical Science at the University of Idaho invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in computationally intensive statistical methods applied to systems biology, which is an established focus area of the University. This interdisciplinary position is part of a cluster of three hires focused on aspects of systems biology where the other two are in Mathematics and Physics. This is an academic year (9-month) position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 17, 2014. • Carrying out an active research program • Teaching graduate and undergraduate statistics courses • Participating actively in interdisciplinary research programs • Contributing to the development of the department’s graduate programs
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: • A doctoral degree in Statistics or a related field earned or expected by August 2014 • Evidence of research experience in computationally intensive statistical methods • Evidence of experience in teaching • Evidence of strong communication skills in the English language • Applicants who are selected as final possible candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check. Desirable Qualifications: • Evidence of expertise and research interests in the biological sciences (systems biology, statistical genetics, bioinformatics, biometrics), spatial statistics, or the social sciences • Evidence of research accomplishments • Collaborative research experience with statisticians and scientists in other fields • Record of excellence in teaching • Evidence of likely success in attracting external funding
Salary Range:
62,000-66,000
