Company Information: The University of Memphis School of Public Health offers areas of study in epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, social and behavioral sciences, health systems, and health administration. Faculty expertise is diverse and the School has strong collaborations with local, national, and international partners that enrich teaching, support research projects, and offer opportunities for graduate placements and research experience. Opportunities exist for collaboration with various University research centers including the FedEx Institute of Technology, W. Harry Feinstone Center for Genomic Research, Methodist Le Bonheur Center for Healthcare Economics, Benjamin L. Hooks Institute for Social Change, the Center for Partnership in GIS, and the School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy. The Memphis Research Consortium (http://www.memphisresearchconsortium.org), a state funded inter-disciplinary and inter-institutional collaborative effort, offers the opportunity for supporting research within the areas of childhood obesity, informatics, and systems modeling to address key areas of focus in children's health improvement, clinical and behavioral informatics, and public health genomics. Collaborative agreements allow for cross-institutional work with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and partnerships with Baptist Memorial Health Care, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, and other community health clinics and systems.

Position Title: Assistant Professor of Biostatistics

Duties & Responsibilities: Tenure track 9-month academic position in biostatistics at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong potential in statistical methodology research, pursuing external funding, teaching, and collaborative research. The successful candidate should have an interest in the application of statistical methodologies to health sciences, develop and maintain an active research program, and obtain external research funds; teach biostatistics courses primarily to graduate students in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Environmental health, and other fields; and chair and serve on MPH thesis committees in Biostatistics and serve on MPH and doctoral thesis committees in other disciplines in the School of Public Health, and to contribute to the further development of the School.

Position Qualifications: Applicants must have a doctoral degree in biostatistics and experience commensurate with academic rank. Those with a doctoral degree in a closely related field and relevant professional experience are also encouraged to apply. Desired areas of interest include, and not limited to, bioinformatics with emphasis on statistical methods and statistical computing on high throughput data, longitudinal and survival modeling, spatial and temporal modeling, in either a frequentist or Bayesian framework. Experience in analyses of birth cohorts and/or longitudinal studies, genetic and epigenetics data, and of childhood obesity is desirable but not required.
