Company Information: The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases is one of the 27 institutes of the National Institutes of Health. The Clinical Trials and Outcomes Branch of the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) is recruiting a post-doctoral fellow. Research in the branch is in the broad areas of health outcomes and health services research. We focus on studies of health outcomes of patients with rheumatic diseases, using observational studies, clinical trials, and analyses of large administrative datasets. The branch includes 2 physician investigators, 2 biostatisticians, 2 post-doctoral fellows, and support personnel.

Position Title: Postdoctoral fellow

Duties & Responsibilities: The fellow will work with the physician investigators and biostatisticians on projects related to health outcomes. Michael Ward, MD, MPH and Abhijit Dasgupta, PhD, will be the primary mentors. The successful candidate will have content interests in outcomes of disease, treatment effects, quality of care, comparative effectiveness, or health disparities. He/she is expected to have methodological interest in the application of statistics in epidemiology, longitudinal data analysis, and machine learning. Experience working with large administrative datasets is a plus. He/she will be responsible for leading analyses of independent projects, preparing manuscripts, and contributing to the methodological development of studies by other investigators in the section. The NIH has a broad community of methodologists and content experts and hosts a diverse set of lectures, mini-courses, and resources for professional development.

Position Qualifications: Applicants must have a doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, economics, or a related field. A record of peer-reviewed publications in one of these fields is helpful. Experience with programming using common statistical software (SAS, STATA, R) is expected. The successful candidate should have strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively. Applications will be evaluated on demonstrated ability to analyze epidemiologic data and to collaborate effectively.

Salary Range: $45000 to $50000
