As a clinical campus of Stony Brook University, Winthrop provides a vibrant, interactive environment offering numerous opportunities for multidisciplinary collaborative investigations in clinical, basic and outcomes research. A new building to house all Winthrop research is currently under construction. It will expand the capacity to support all phases of scientific inquiry. Biostatistical expertise is sought to foster growth of the extramurally funded research base and support training of medical students and house officers. Winthrop is located in suburban Long Island, 30 minutes from midtown Manhattan on the Long Island Railroad and just minutes from the Island’s beautiful beaches.
Position Title:
Biostatistician, full-time
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Biostatistician will be expected to provide statistical consultation and support to attending physicians, residents, and fellows on their independent research projects; help prepare statistical analysis plans for research protocols and grant applications; apply statistical methods to analyze, interpret and summarize clinical data; help prepare manuscripts; give periodic presentations on statistical methods; serve as a biostatistical reviewer for the Institutional Review Board and collaborate with other biostatisticians within the department. This position requires strong interpersonal skills; excellent oral/written communication and computer skills. Must be able to work in a team environment. The successful candidate must also possess demonstrated skills using statistical software such as SAS, R or SPSS.
Position Qualifications:
Master’s degree in statistics or biostatistics with at least 3 years' experience (experience must include collaborations with clinicians or life scientists).
