The Statistics & Evaluation Center in the Intramural Research Department at the American Cancer Society (ACS) Corporate Center seeks a professional with advanced statistics, geographic data management, analysis, mapping and reporting skills to support program monitoring and evaluation efforts related to ACS mission and income delivery programs.

Position Title: Director of Evaluation Informatics (ID #12268)

Duties & Responsibilities: This position focuses on supporting research for mission and income delivery decision making and working with colleagues in ACS, and in particular the Intramural Research Department to create and analyze geo-coded databases, construct associated maps and produce reports. Responsibilities include: 1) Developing and implementing business procedures and protocols for identifying key geo-coded data of use to ACS programs (mission and income), producing appropriate analyses and maps of these data and communicating these maps and reports to program leads; 2) Serving as the initial point of contact for maps and GIS analysis technical assistance (tier 1 support); 3) Assessing, testing, and implementing mapping and GIS analysis technology solutions for ACS; and, 4) Collaborating on and providing mapping and GIS analysis technical support for specified projects within the Intramural Research Department.

Position Qualifications: A PhD degree in public health, biostatistics, computer science, or geography with a concentration in health informatics preferred, including experience mapping and GIS analysis of public health data. Candidates with an advanced degree in public health, evaluation, statistics, biostatistics, computer science, business, geography or equivalent, with a strong mapping and GIS analysis background and 3+ years of experience in mapping and GIS analysis will also be considered. Successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to work with public health program data, to create databases, extract summaries, and work with others to produce maps, analyses and reports in a timely manner, and to interact, collaborate, plan, and effectively communicate with “customers” of various backgrounds, technical expertise, and goals. In addition, the successful candidate must have extensive knowledge and experience with using geographic information systems, such as ArcInfo® for complex analysis and map making, and knowledge and experience with MS Visual Basic ® and .NET as needed to produce customized maps and GIS analyses within the ArcInfo environment.
