Position Title:
Statistician
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop robust statistical models to support immediate and long-term business decisions, and provide recommendations to satisfy player need Team up with marketing and development to establish key performance metrics for player behavior, player segmentation and fraud that inform future initiatives Use statistical methods to evaluate and quantify the impact ongoing changes have on the game Sync up with project leads to understand their questions, then work with BI teammates to implement statistical models that provide clear, concise answers
Position Qualifications:
Educated: you’ve got at least an MS (and preferably a Ph. D.), in statistics, biostatistics or a related field Statistically equipped: you’re an expert at using analytical tools like SAS, R and SPSS to build and validate statistical models with large datasets; you’re experienced with statistical methods like Linear Regression, Logistic Regression, CART, Principle Component Analysis, Time Series, K-means Clustering and Treenet, and know which method is right for the job at hand A model statistician: you know that good decisions start with a foundation of good stats, and have a deep understanding of model selection methods and how to measure model performance; knowledge of advanced analysis techniques such as machine learning is a definite plus An equipped communicator: you're the interpreter between data and the less numerically inclined and generate reports that translate statistical models into actionable insight; experience with reporting tools like Excel, Access, MySQL and SQL is strongly preferred Player-focused: if you were to analyze yourself, you’d find that the number of hours you spend gaming (particularly playing League of Legends) is statistically significant in your life; you’re driven to put your math smarts and strategic thinking to work improving the player experience Web capable: knowing your way around web protocols and languages like HTML, Flash, JavaScript, Java and J2EE will put you ahead of the curve A data warehouse-dabbler: you’ll earn bonus points if you have a basic understanding of data warehousing, relational databases and distributed data storage systems like Hadoop
