Position Title:
Principle/Senior Statistician
Duties & Responsibilities: Exciting
opportunities have now arisen within Quantitative Sciences for new and
recently qualified Statisticians. The roles will involve rotation
around the different statistics group (nonclinical and early and late
phase clinical groups), remaining based at your home site, to allow you
to gain a thorough understanding and experience of the different areas
involved in getting a new drug to market. Reasons for applying involve:
• The three years of rotations will enable you to gain in-depth
experience and understanding in all aspects of drug development. • You
will be able to apply your statistical skills to make key contributions
to the development of new medicines: this will involve enhancing and
developing your statistical knowledge, and may involve the development
of novel methods. • Our vision is to become the most effective
Statistics group in the industry. Working closely with clinical or
scientific colleagues, you will: • Apply your statistical knowledge in
the design and analysis of studies to discover and demonstrate the
effectiveness, safety and quality of new medicines. • Prepare and
conduct analyses and reports for internal and regulatory purposes, as
well as contributing to external presentations and papers for
publication. • Be part of a team of more experienced statisticians,
with whom you will rapidly develop your statistical knowledge and
expertise. • Have opportunities to work within the broader therapeutic
teams, which focus on drug development strategy, alongside data
managers, clinical scientists, marketing professionals and
epidemiologists, or to work within non-clinical matrix teams, alongside
biologists and chemists. • Have opportunities to consult with R&D
engineers, biologists, chemists and pharmaceutical scientists on the
design and analysis of scientific and engineering studies and influence
R&D scientists to design experiments and to apply decision making
through sound statistical principles.
Position Qualifications:
Basic qualifications: • PhD degree in Statistics/Biostatistics and have
the ability to apply statistical knowledge and logical thinking to
practical situations. Exceptional students currently completing a
statistics MS/MSc will also be considered. • Experience of statistical
software i.e. SAS/R/Statistica would be an advantage (software training
as well as training in advanced statistics will be offered). Preferred
qualifications: • Good communication and interpersonal skills. •
Ability to work well in a team. • Ability to make well thought-out and
efficient decisions based on available data. • An interest in drug
development.
