The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, founded in 1866, enrolls approximately 8000 students in primarily undergraduate programs leading to degrees in agriculture, the arts, business, communication, criminal justice, education, engineering, the humanities, industry, mathematics, and the sciences. Position Title:
Assistant Professor
Duties & Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility will be to teach undergraduate statistics courses. The typical teaching load is twelve credits per semester, with two or three preparations. Applicants will also be expected to participate in scholarly activities, assist others on campus with their research, provide academic advising to students, and participate in department, college, and university service.
Position Qualifications:
A doctorate in statistics must be completed with a transcript provided by January 1, 2014. Preference will be given to an applicant interested in the actuarial field or in developing a new applied statistics minor. Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and present evidence of excellent teaching at the college level. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to or experience with diverse populations. A willingness to collaborate with both students and faculty, and to become involved in university service, is essential. It is expected that the candidate will remain professionally active in the statistics community. We are primarily interested in hiring outstanding teachers who will be assets to the Department and the University.
