The successful candidates for these positions will be involved in teaching, service, and research. The Department of Biostatistics currently includes 14 primary faculty, 8 secondary faculty, and approximately 40 graduate students. The Department offers MS and PhD degrees in Biostatistics, as well as an MPH degree specializing in Biostatistics. Position Title: Assistant Professor, Tenure-track

Duties & Responsibilities: At least one, and possibly two, tenure track positions are available for a faculty member with expertise in the statistical analysis and interpretation of genomic data. The University of Iowa has recently formed a cluster hire of new faculty in genetics supported by the Office of the Provost. This cluster hire will bring in 10 newly appointed tenure-track Assistant Professors, at least one of whom will develop a research agenda in statistical methods related to genetics. This faculty member will have an appointment as an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics, College of Public Health, and will participate in Department and College activities. The cluster as a whole will interact with an existing interdisciplinary PhD program in genetics and more than 50 current faculty working in genetics. Participation in the Genetics Cluster is designed to facilitate the development of the Assistant Professor’s research agenda and also provide collaborative opportunities. Collaboration with the Genetics Cluster will be a component in performance evaluation. The University of Iowa has also recently formed an Iowa Institute of Human Genetics. Position Qualifications: A PhD or equivalent in biostatistics, statistics, or a related area, as well as evidence of excellent written and oral communication skills. Expertise in statistical methods related to the analysis of genetic data and/or genomic sequencing is required, along with both the potential to develop an independent research agenda and the potential for excellence in teaching.
