Chair, Department of Biomedical Informatics
Duties & Responsibilities:
Candidates are invited to apply for the unique opportunity of Professor and founding Chair of the Department of Biomedical Informatics in the School of Medicine, University at Buffalo, the State University of New York. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader dedicated to innovative research, program development, and teaching in Biomedical Informatics. The chair will contribute to advancing knowledge and discovery in the fields of translational science, and improving healthcare through the development and application of advanced biomedical informatics techniques on EHR, clinical trial, epidemiological and omics data. Appropriate resources, in the form of competitive salary, new faculty lines and start-up packages, are available to implement this growth. The Department of Biomedical Informatics is a newly formed department of the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. The founding Chair will have an opportunity to build a faculty of approximately 15 full, joint and secondary members from internal and external departments of the school and to establish MS and PhD graduate programs in Biomedical Informatics. Position Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree, and an established research program in the broadly defined area of Biomedical Informatics. Strong leadership and administrative skills are essential attributes. Beyond maintaining a strong research program, responsibilities of the Chair include administration of the Department and its teaching programs, as well as defining its scientific vision and overall directions.
