Position Title: Research Professorship in Computational Statistics

Duties & Responsibilities: This full research professorship (equivalent to the UK or US tenured full professor) involves establishing and supervising a new research group at the Heidelberg Institute of Theoretical Studies (HITS) where the position is based.

Position Qualifications: The aim of this position is to strengthen both the competence of KIT in statistics with a view towards applications and the profile of HITS. The position will be offered to outstanding scientists with interdisciplinary experience and a well established international profile in theoretical computational statistics with a strong focus on applications, e.g. in (but not limited to) the fields of astrophysics, molecular biology, computational linguistics, machine learning, or molecular biomechanics. The willingness and ability to collaborate with the existing research groups at HITS and other departments and institutes of KIT will be essential.

Salary Range: 65000€ - 85000€ p.a.

Benefits: Tenure Position Teaching load is 1/4 of that usually associated with a full professorship
