The Yale Center for Analytical Sciences (YCAS) is a center for collaborative science. Position Title:
Associate Research Scientist
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include: 1) providing expert biostatistical/epidemiological consultation and collaboration on study design, implementation, analysis and the preparation of protocols, grants and manuscripts for multiple projects; 2) planning and overseeing comprehensive analyses for many types of data and types of studies; 3) training clinical faculty in the principles of biostatistics and study design and 4) supervising master’s level analytic staff.
Position Qualifications:
The Yale Center for Analytical Sciences (YCAS) is accepting applications for a research faculty position in the Yale School of Public Health to collaborate with clinical investigators at the Yale School of Medicine on biostatistical and epidemiologic methods. The available position is for a Ph.D. level statistician, biostatistician or epidemiologist who will become a member of the biostatistics core of the YCAS. The position involves consultation and collaboration with clinical researchers as well as supervision of master’s level analytic staff and the teaching of statistical/epidemiological principles to clinical researchers. Knowledge and experience in clinical study design, data collection and management, and data analysis for a wide range of experimental and observational studies such as clinical trials and longitudinal studies are required. This individual will have considerable involvement in developing and writing statistical components of investigator-initiated grant applications. The ability to work independently on several different projects with a range of investigators across a variety of clinical disciplines is essential. Excellent oral and written communication skills along with proficiency with statistical computer languages such as SAS, R, S-plus etc. are a must. A minimum of three years of experience collaborating with clinical investigators is required.
