The Department of Biostatistics includes faculty with expertise in survival analysis, clinical trials, sequential analysis, regression methods, multivariate analysis, robust inference, evaluation methods, data management and information systems. The department promotes statistical and evaluation research practice, research in the design and analysis of research studies, application of statistical methods in public health and biomedical sciences, in training graduate students, and in collaborating with public health and clinical science investigators. The department administers the Master of Public Health degree in biostatistics. The School of Public Health is experiencing exponential growth in students and funded research with an increase from 221 to 386 students and research funding growth from $.6 million to $3 million between 2007 and 2011.
Position Title:
FULL/ASSOCIATE/ASSISTANT PROFESSOR TENURE-TRACK
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Department of Biostatistics in the School of Public Health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center invites applications for tenure-track full/associate/assistant professor positions to begin in 2013 at any time prior to the Fall 2013 semester. The successful applicant must have a doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics or in a public health field with a focus in research methodology and/or evaluation. We are seeking candidates with a strong record of research accomplishments including extramural research funding. In particular, we seek candidates interested in collaboration and leadership in the clinical, epidemiological and community-based research agenda of the UNT School of Public Health. Our five strategic research areas are airways management (asthma and COPD), alcohol abuse prevention, cancer communication and prevention, economic evaluation, and translational and community-based research (see http://www.hsc.unt.edu/education/sph/Research.cfm). The successful candidate is expected to teach and carry out methodological and/or collaborative research, and advise MPH and PhD students. Evaluation of the candidate’s credentials will determine rank, salary, and tenure status. Tenured appointment at the Full or Associate Professor level is possible. This is a 12-month appointment.
Position Qualifications:
PhD in biostatistics, statistics or in a public health field with a focus in research methodology and/or evaluation, and an excellent research and teaching record. All areas in biostatistics will be considered.
