Position Title: Programmer/Analyst II

Duties & Responsibilities: Assist in the design and construction of computerized study databases. Monitor and coordinate computerized data collection for UCLA-centered projects, including providing staff with feedback. Supervise data entry and check for quality control. Clean raw data using statistical software for use in the presentations and analyses. Prepare tables of statistical results, including frequency counts, correlations, means, standard deviations, and other. Assist in the design of, and implement, data quality control systems. Develop documentation defining database variables and valid values. Train staff on computerized data entry procedures. Work with off-site collection centers to coordinate and facilitate computerized data sharing. Conduct statistical analyses to monitor and validate data values as party of data quality procedures. Conduct statistical analyses as part of reports, presentations, and manuscripts, including parametric and non-parametric t-tests, multivariate linear regression, and logistic regression modeling. Assist in the use and interpretation of statistical analyses, including univariate, vivariate, and multivariate statistics. Write, proofread, and edit research manuscripts. Make presentations at professional conferences.

Position Qualifications: Knowledge of Excel and Access for keeping databases. Skill in statistical software applications, notably SAS. Having attention to detail, being able to catch inconsistencies in the data. Be able to follow up with data entry persons to make sure all data is current. Ability to select and pass on relevant information to co-investigators. Be able to summarize results into tables. Ability to use Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Ability to perform duties and tasks independently with minimal supervision. Skill in speaking clearly and distinctively. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with other staff members and faculty. Master's in Biostatistics or related field. Knowledge of various statistical software (SAS, SPSS, STATA, R), database software (Excel, Access) as well as graphing software. Salary Range: $21.44 / $3731 - $41.12 / $7154
