Company Information: The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Arizona State University invites applications for two tenure-track positions in statistics or applied statistics beginning in fall 2013. The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Arizona State University currently has 54 full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty members and approximately 75 supported graduate students. The School offers bachelors, masters, and Ph.D. programs in statistics (as well as in applied mathematics, mathematics, and mathematics education). Excellent computing resources are available in the School that include individual faculty workstations as well as access to the University's central computing facilities and the High Performance Computing Initiative. The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences has a strongly interdisciplinary research profile that includes numerous collaborations inside and outside the university, such as in the social sciences, education, physical sciences, engineering, biological sciences, medicine, and environmental sciences. There are numerous opportunities for collaboration with interdisciplinary institutes, such as the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), the Biodesign Institute (which includes Centers specializing in the nanobiosciences, bioengineering, genomics, and vaccinology), the new College of Health Solutions, and the Global Institute of Sustainability.

Position Title: Assistant Professor

Duties & Responsibilities: The successful candidates will be expected to conduct research and publish in the area of statistics and/or its applications, provide quality teaching and mentoring in our undergraduate and graduate programs, and participate in appropriate professional service, which includes shared mentoring of our graduate students in statistical consulting projects. While we are interested in applicants in all areas of statistics, we are particularly interested in those with expertise and background in nonparametric statistics, time series, or missing data and who have the ability and desire to apply their expertise to problems in science or engineering in an interdisciplinary and collaborative setting.

Position Qualifications: Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in the mathematical or statistical sciences with a research emphasis in statistics and/or its applications to other disciplines by August 10, 2013. Candidates must also have demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching.
