Position Title: Professor/Reader in Statistics

Duties & Responsibilities: We are seeking to appoint an outstanding statistician with an excellent track record of research and research leadership in an area which will enhance and extend the current interests of the Statistics group in the School of Mathematics and in the Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute (S3RI). Whilst preference may be given to those with an international reputation for excellent research in statistical modelling and computation, outstanding candidates in other areas of statistics are encouraged to apply. S3RI co-ordinates and supports the research activities of over 40 research statisticians and demographers from the Schools of Mathematics, Social Sciences, and Medicine. The breadth and excellence of the statistical research carried out in Southampton was recognised in RAE2008 where Southampton was ranked second in the UK by ‘Research Power’ in Statistics and OR, and third in the UK by the amount of QR funding received. You will enhance the international profile of the research group by conducting research of international standing in statistics and applying for externally funded research grants. You will teach undergraduate and postgraduate statistics, and undertake supervision of research students. You will also support the effective management and administration of the Academic Unit.

Position Qualifications:

Salary Range: £45,486 to £82,503
