Position Title:
Associate Professor in Probability
Duties & Responsibilities:
Applications are invited from outstanding candidates for the above post. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute strongly to maintaining and enhancing the School’s high standards in research and teaching. Candidates should have a commitment to high-quality teaching in honours and service mathematics to a broad range of students. The School of Mathematical Sciences was ranked 8th nationally by Research Power in the 2008 UK Research Assessment Exercise, within which the Statistics and Probability Research Group was ranked 6th nationally by quality. Research interests within the group include mathematical finance, stochastic geometry, stochastic epidemic modelling and stochastic optimal control, but candidates with interests in any area of probability are encouraged to apply.
Position Qualifications:
Candidates should hold a PhD or equivalent in mathematics or a related subject and have achieved research distinction in Probability, have strong leadership capability or potential and proven skills in high quality teaching.
Salary Range:
Salary £46,846 - £55,908 per annum depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this range is subject to performance.
