The Department of Statistics and Data Analysis is a part of the Faculty of Economics and provides bachelor and master programs in statistics with a concentration in specific statistical methods, business statistics, survey methodology, and official statistics. HSE also includes several research bodies with specialization in statistics.
Position Title:
Tenure-track appointments are available at all levels, from assistant professor to full professor
Duties & Responsibilities:
The teaching load of newly hired faculty members is at most 2 classes (80 minutes each) per week • Carrying out an active research program in theoretical and/or applied statistics • Contributing to the development of the department’s academic programs • The candidate would be expected to publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals with research support provided by the university’s Centre for Advanced Studies – a collaborative endeavor with Moscow’s New Economic School -- and participate actively in interdisciplinary research programs.
Position Qualifications:
Candidates must have a PhD in statistics or related fields as well as experience of practical work in official statistics/participation in research projects related to statistics. Priority will be given to those candidates with a proven ability to conduct high-level research as well as experience of teaching advanced courses for graduate students. A working knowledge of Russian would be an asset although teaching will be in English. The tenure-track appointments will start in September 2013, for 3 years in the first instance.
Salary Range:
Approximately $ 60-75 K per year at the current exchange rate (150,000-190,000 Russian rubles per month) depending on experience and qualifications
Benefits:
In addition to research travel support, initial accommodation and other benefits, significant research grants can be provided. An exceptionally promising or experienced candidate could be considered for a higher salary and a more senior position. HSE salaries are indexed to inflation annually and subject to a 13% flat income tax.
