The Department was founded in 1959 and offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. It has 14 full-time faculty positions with research interests covering a wide range of topics in both theory and applications. The Department’s annual Applied Statistics in Agriculture Conference, now in its 25th year, boasts outstanding keynote speakers and each year draws over 100 participants from around the country. Currently there are about 55 graduate students, about one third to one half of whom are working toward a PhD. The majority of graduate students are supported with teaching assistantships. Kansas State University has approximately 23,000 students from all 50 states and 90 countries. The University is located in Manhattan, Kansas. The “Little Apple” is a classic college town with a zoo, 21 parks, and a recreation trail that circles the city. Manhattan is also home to exciting Big XII sports, excellent restaurants, and outdoor recreation. Located in the Flint Hills of Kansas and edging the Kansas River, Manhattan is situated 9 miles north of Interstate 70, 125 miles west of Kansas City.
Position Title:
9-month Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Statistics
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, research, directing MS and PhD students, and supporting the Master of Public Heath (MPH) Program at K-State. This latter responsibility involves teaching a graduate level course in Biostatistics that is part of the MPH program. Preferred qualifications are research interests that have application potential to studies in human or animal health, with special preference given to applicants with a background and interest in public health, and/or with a strong background and interests in collaborative work and interdisciplinary research. Evidence of such qualities could be a former degree related to public health, or past collaborative publications, grants, or consulting projects in biostatistics. Position Qualifications:
Qualifications include a PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, or in a related area by August 4, 2013, and strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching.
