Duties & Responsibilities:
The Department of Quantitative Health Sciences (QHS) at the Cleveland Clinic main campus is searching for a doctoral level biostatistician to collaborate with researchers in the Lerner Research Institute. The successful candidate will join an active group of about 80 QHS biostatisticians, analysts, and programmers working in a wide range of clinical areas and statistical methodologies. It is desired that candidates have previous experience collaborating with basic scientists in a medical research setting, with examples of creative analytic approaches to complex problems in experimental design and data analysis in the context of biomedical research. Excellent academic writing and communication skills, with verbal proficiency in the English language, must be clearly demonstrated.

The level of appointment will be commensurate with experience of the candidate. This is a full time collaborative research position with limited teaching or administrative duties. The candidate is expected to assist/direct investigators with study design and power calculations, as well as help to refine research questions and determine an appropriate analytical plan. Statistical analyses will be conducted by the candidate, complete with written reports to the investigator. The candidate is also expected to write the statistical design and data analysis sections of grant applications and manuscripts. While certainly valuable, there is no expectation that the candidate obtain grant funding as the principal investigator. However, the candidate’s role is expected to warrant inclusion as a co-investigator on substantive grant proposals. Some independent PhD level methodological research in a relevant area is also expected.
