Lecturer in Mathematical/Statistical Informatics (similar to Assistant Professor in US)
Duties & Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute strongly to maintaining and enhancing the School’s high standards in teaching and research. Candidates should have a commitment to high-quality teaching in service and honours mathematics to a broad range of students. At the University of Nottingham, the School of Mathematical Sciences was ranked 8th nationally by Research Power in the 2008 RAE. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to maintaining and enhancing our research record. While the field is to be interpreted in a broad sense, the School is particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates with research interests in the development of innovative mathematical tools for the analysis of large datasets emerging from a variety of fields (including systems biology and medicine, and the digital economy), and with relevant expertise, in areas such as stochastic modelling, statistical inference and network modelling. There is significant potential to establish collaborations with colleagues within the University involved in data production (notably from the various Schools of biology and medicine) and complementary techniques of data analysis (such as Computer Science). Candidates should hold a PhD or equivalent in mathematics, statistics or a related subject and have demonstrated potential for research of international quality that complements existing activity within the School.
