Company Information: The UNM Cancer Center (http://cancer.unm.edu) is one of the nation's 66 premier National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Centers and the Official Cancer Center of New Mexico. With 85 associated physicians and 127 scientists recruited from leading institutions nationwide and supported by $60 million in annual research funding, the Center has undergone remarkable growth in the past 10 years and is home to the region's most experienced team of cancer specialists. In 2010, the Center cared for 15,888 patients in more than 175,000 ambulatory clinic visits in a newly constructed state of the art cancer treatment facility. The Center's statewide cancer clinical trials network accrues 20% of its patients annually to therapeutic clinical trials. The Center has significant capabilities in cancer drug discovery and novel therapeutic delivery, housing one of the nation's 9 NIH Roadmap-funded Centers for Molecular Discovery and High Throughput Target Screening (nmmlsc.health.unm.edu), one of 10 NIH-funded Centers for Systems Biology with advanced with imaging capabilities (health.stmc.unm.edu), and an NCI Nanotechnology Alliance-funded program developing novel nanocarriers for targeted delivery of cancer therapeutics and imaging agents. The Department of Internal Medicine is an expanding and progressive department of 11 divisions. Part of the UNM Health Sciences Center, it houses one of the nation's NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Centers (hsc.unm.edu/research/ctsc). The Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics includes 6 PhD faculty biostatisticians and has strong ties with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences. The successful applicant will join a growing team of cancer epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and researchers.

Position Title: Biostatistics Faculty Position - Open Rank, Open Track

Duties & Responsibilities: The UNM Cancer Center and the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center invite applicants for a faculty position in biostatistics to support cancer research, with a particular focus on clinical trial design and on the analysis of correlative science accompanying clinical trials. Faculty rank and track will be determined by the applicant’s qualifications. The successful applicant will engage in both independent and collaborative research projects in clinical, epidemiological, cancer prevention or genetics research and have teaching responsibilities.

Position Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field. Must be eligible to work in the US. Desirable/Preferable Qualifications: expertise in at least one of the following areas; design and analysis of clinical trials, analysis of high-dimensional data, and statistical genetics, with strong preference given to candidates with experience and expertise in clinical trials.
