Position Title: Post-doc(Statistics/Informatics role)

Duties & Responsibilities: We are currently seeking a Post-doc (Statistics/Informatics role) in our Center for Clinical and Research Informatics (CCRI) group. CCRI builds upon NorthShore’s award-winning electronic medical record and extensive data warehouse. CCRI is charged with the responsibility of innovative collection and use of clinical data (e.g. novel workflows and architectures, machine learning, visualization, other multi-variety analysis techniques, and distributed or parallel computing approaches). This is a Post-doc position in Statistics/Informatics to be supervised by Dr. Yuan Ji, Director of Cancer Informatics. Successful candidates are expected (but not required) to possess skills in Bayesian adaptive designs and/or experiences in dealing with large-scale complex genomics data sets, such as next-generation sequencing data. Computational skills and experiences beyond R and Matlab and familiarity with online database such as ENCODE, UCSC Genome Browser, NCBI database etc is a plus. Position Qualifications: This position is located in Evanston, IL with easy access to the CTA and METRA. In this role you will: • Perform independent methodological and applied research in biostatistics/bioinformatics, such as developing novel Bayesian methods involving Markov chain Monte Carlo simulations for large scale high-throughput biomedical data. • Perform statistical analyses for a variety of clinical research activities, and participate in large-scale bio- and medical informatics projects, grants, and collaborations. • Provide professional research support, including assistance in the preparation of manuscripts, reports, abstracts, protocols and grants. Our ideal candidate will have: • PhD Degree in biostatistics, statistics, bioinformatics, and computer sciences. • Must have knowledge of research design and statistical analysis methods, and expertise in programming and computing (SAS, R, C++, Pearl/Python). Analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and deductive reasoning skills. • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
