Position Title:
Property Valuation Modeler
Duties & Responsibilities:
Property Valuation Modelers are needed to assist in mass valuation of New York Citys one million tax parcels. The selected candidates will work on projects related to valuation and provide support to other modelers and staff. Models and analyses will be performed using SAS. As part of the Property Modeling Group, examples of typical tasks include, but are not limited to: Work with the modeling team in conducting extensive research and analysis of property related data including, but not limited to: sales, cost, market trends, economic conditions and other factors impacting value, data development analysis, decision analysis and hierarchical models. Work closely with staff and management to successfully implement and track results. Respond to ad hoc data requests. Gather data and perform basic and advanced statistical analysis of multiple factors, including generating sales ratios and performing equalization analysis. Provide property data reports, statistical summaries and graphic representations of statistical analyses, and interpret statistical findings. Import and export database information used in property valuation and help coordinate the data processing and programming needs of the computer assisted mass appraisal (CAMA) systems with the IT Division. Assess property valuation models currently used, review literature, research new valuation techniques, and experiment with new models. Perform validation and testing of models to ensure accuracy, stability and predictability. Identify valuation areas that require data review or model revision. Prepare management reports, defining and evaluating model performance issues and solutions.
Position Qualifications:
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by twenty- four (24) semester credits in computer science or a related computer field; or 2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and three years of satisfactory full-time computer programming experience; or 3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. College education may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience in "2" above on the basis that sixty (60) semester credits from an accredited college is equated to one year of experience. In addition, twenty-four (24) credits from an accredited college or graduate school in computer science or a related computer field, or a certificate of at least 625 hours in computer programming from an accredited technical school (post high school), may be substituted for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have at least a four- year high school diploma or its educational equivalent. Prefer candidates with: o Knowledge of SAS or other similar statistical software. o Knowledge of ARCGIS or other geographic information systems software. o Knowledge of SQL. o Knowledge of MATLAB/R or other matrix programming languages. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.
Salary Range:
$50,393 - $70,607
