Position Title: Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor

Duties & Responsibilities: The Department of Mathematics and Statistics of Georgia State University invites applications for up to three anticipated Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor positions in mathematics and statistics, beginning in August 2012 pending budgetary approval. These are 1 year positions, renewable for a second year based upon satisfactory performance. The teaching load is two courses per semester (four per year).

Position Qualifications: A Ph. D. in mathematics, statistics, biostatistics/bioinformatics, is required. The department offers Ph.D. degrees in mathematics, biostatistics, and bioinformatics. Preference will be given to candidates who have received their Ph.D. within the last three years. Candidates must have a Ph.D. by the date of hire, an outstanding research record, and demonstrated teaching success. Preference will be given to researchers working in an area currently represented by the department. In the application cover letter, it will be very helpful to indicate which members of our department are closest to the applicant's research interests.

Salary Range: 45,000
