Position Title: Biostatistician - (open rank) #M02453

Duties & Responsibilities: The position offers excellent opportunities for professional growth in a stimulating research environment, collaborating on both local and multi-center clinical studies. The Biostatistician I will participate as a member of a research team in the design, conduct, and analysis of ACRIN and CSS clinical trials at the direction of ACRIN faculty and senior Biostatisticians. S/he will be responsible for programming efforts related to study monitoring and analysis, and will occasionally be asked to participate in writing efforts. S/he plays a key role in the development and production of study forms, data validations, query reports, and global study reports for clinical studies. S/he will participant in ACRIN-wide and study-specific conference calls, and in ACRIN BDMC and CSS committees. The Biostatistician II will participate independently and as a member of a research team in the design, conduct, and analysis of ACRIN and CSS clinical trials under the direction of ACRIN faculty and senior Biostatisticians. S/he will be responsible for programming efforts related to study monitoring and analysis, and will occasionally be asked to participate in writing efforts. S/he plays a key role in the development and production of study forms, data validations, query reports, and global study reports for clinical studies by providing statistical, programming, and clinical trials expertise. S/he will participant in ACRIN-wide and study-specific conference calls, and in ACRIN BDMC and CSS committees. The Biostatistician III will use their technical and managerial skills to help facilitate the design, conduct, management, and analysis of ACRIN clinical trials by taking a leadership role in study operations under the supervision of ACRIN faculty. As such, s/he will provide study supervision, programming, analysis, and reporting support.

Position Qualifications: Candidates should have a master's degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or Biometry. (A Masters degree in Epidemiology, Health Services Research, Applied mathematics or related field may be sufficient if all appropriate statistical coursework has been completed, or combination of extensive statistical training and experiences.) Other qualifications include: excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience in computing in both a Windows and UNIX environment. Qualifications specific to a Biostatistician I include: working knowledge of major statistical software package (SAS, Stata or S-Plus) and 0-3 years experience in Clinical Trials or Biomedical data analysis. Qualifications specific to a Biostatistician II include: experience implementing and familiarity with standard statistical techniques for clinical trials of diagnostic imaging, including testing for association, regression and survival analysis, basic study design, and methods for the analysis of diagnostic test accuracy studies. etc.; familiar with data maintenance and manipulation (variable creation, data checking, etc.); proven ability to work effectively on multiple projects at the same time and learn complex technical concepts; proficiency in a major statistical software package (SAS, Stata or S-Plus) and 3+ years experience in Clinical Trials or Biomedical data analysis. Qualifications specific to a Biostatistician III include: familiarity with a variety of advanced statistical concepts and a demonstrable proficiency in standard statistical techniques including testing for association, regression and survival analysis, basic study design, and methods for the analysis of diagnostic test accuracy studies; advanced training in biostatistics methods and clinical trials; excellent project management and mentoring experience with a proven ability to organize people and meet deadlines; proven ability to work effectively on multiple projects at the same time and learn complex technical concepts; proficient in managing and manipulating data (variable creation, data checking, etc.); excellent judgment and an ability to work independently; advanced knowledge of a major statistical software package (SAS, Stata or S-Plus) and at least 5 years of experience in biomedical or clinical trials data analysis.
