Company Information: The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at American University invites applications for one-year appointments starting Fall semester 2012 as a full-time instructor in either mathematics or statistics. Possibility for reappointment is based on satisfactory performance and budgetary authorization.

Position Title: Instructor

Duties & Responsibilities: Responsibilities for an instructor include teaching approximately 25 credits during the academic year as well as departmental service activities.

Position Qualifications: Minimum qualifications are experience teaching mathematics or statistics at the college level and a master's degree or equivalent in mathematics or statistics. The ability to teach introductory statistics is desirable. All applicants should submit a letter of application, a current CV, a personal statement regarding teaching, an official transcripts of graduate education. They should also arrange for at least three letters of reference to be submitted directly to the department. At least one letter must comment on teaching experience.
