Position Title: Lecturer for Statistics

Duties & Responsibilities: The Department of Statistics at the University of Virginia invites applications for a Faculty position with the rank of Lecturer to serve as an instructor in undergraduate statistics. This is a non-tenure-track academic position, beginning Fall 2012 . The term of this appointment will be one academic year. The teaching load is three courses per semester. Part of the Lecturer's duties will be to manage and lecture a large introductory course with the assistance of TAs. This course uses the WeBWorK computer based homework system. Prior experience with WeBWorK, or any other computer based instruction system, is not required but the Lecturer must be comfortable with the use of such a system. The most important criteria for selection are strong communication skills and a record of effective teaching. Prior experience in teaching statistics is not required as the Department is willing to train the successful candidate.
