Position Title: Postdoctoral Research Associate

Duties & Responsibilities: Immediate openings for post-doctoral associate position are available in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI). The successful candidate is expected to join an established bioinformatics team of RPCI genome project to develop personalized, more effective medical care plans and treatments through Whole-Genome Sequencing (WGS). The candidate will have the opportunity to access various leading edge genomics datasets and to interact with the investigators in Roswell Park Cancer Institute for both collaborative and independent research. The responsibilities of post-doctoral research in bioinformatics for whole genome sequencing include the development of pipelines for WGS data using existing tools, annotation and functional analysis from WGS data and possible integration of epigenetic, expression and other high-throughput data, and development of new analytic methods for WGS and integration studies.

Position Qualifications: The qualified candidates should be highly motivated and have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics, computer science, cancer biology, or related field. He or she should have a strong computational background (e.g., be skillful in at least one programming language such as Perl, Java, or C/C++) and be familiar with Linux/Unix working environment. The successful candidate should have the ability to learn new techniques and apply computational/statistical method onto high-throughput biological data.
