Position Title: Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (ML-24643)

Duties & Responsibilities: A postdoctoral research position in statistical genetics is available at the FHCRC. The Hutchinson Center provides a challenging academic and supportive multi-disciplinary research environment. We are seeking a recent or prospective doctoral graduate (PhD or equivalent qualification) with a background in related subject areas. This could include, but is not limited to, training in biostatistics, statistics, quantitative genetics, or a closely related field. Please note that this is NOT a laboratory-based position. The postdoctoral fellow-research associate will work directly with Drs. Charles Kooperberg and James Dai, primarily on methodology development in genetic association studies conducted within the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI), including Genome-Wide Association Studies and next generation sequencing studies. WHI is one of the largest and most comprehensive studies of women’s health and is at the forefront in women’s health research. Our study results have been published in the top medical journals and have had significant impact on women’s health. The WHI is designed to investigate strategies for the prevention and control of some of the most common causes of morbidity and mortality among postmenopausal women, including cancer, cardiovascular disease and osteoporotic fractures. The successful applicant will work to develop novel statistical methodology, and also carry out some data analysis relevant for genetic association studies and to present and publish research results.

Position Qualifications: A PhD or equivalent degree is required. The position requires a highly motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Expertise in statistical and computational methods for the analysis of complete, high-dimensional genotype data is desirable but not required.
