Company Information: The Amherst College Department of Mathematics invites applications for a full-time tenured appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with a specialization in statistics. The appointment will be contingent upon a tenure review that will take place in spring 2013 for a position beginning in fall 2013. Amherst College is a private undergraduate liberal arts college for men and women, with 1,800 students and more than 200 faculty members. Located in the Connecticut River Valley of western Massachusetts, Amherst participates with Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith Colleges and the University of Massachusetts in the Five-College Consortium. In particular, there is an active group of statisticians in the Five Colleges who meet on a regular basis.

Position Title: Professor of Statistics

Duties & Responsibilities: Responsibilities include teaching a range of undergraduate statistics courses (two courses per semester), supervising undergraduate theses, mentoring junior colleagues in statistics, and helping to expand and improve the College's statistics curriculum. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in statistics and have broad intellectual interests and a proven track record of excellence in research and in undergraduate teaching.
