Position Title: Post Doctoral Fellow

Duties & Responsibilities: Position Summary The Post Doctoral Fellow will work closely with the chair on current research studies. He/she will also conduct research including the retrieval, filtering, synthesizing, and reporting of clinical research information. This work will result in literature and methodological reviews of published articles and grant proposals, grant identification, grant proposal development, and scientific manuscript development. Responsibilities Work with chair and her research team to develop proposals for extramural funding of research. Provide assistance with the writing, editing and assembling of grant proposals. Work with research teams to develop manuscripts for publication. Provide assistance with the writing, editing and assembling of manuscript submissions. Conduct thorough reviews of the scientific literature to support concept development and use critical appraisal skills to filter, analyze and synthesize information located in the searches. Prepare literature reviews as independent articles or for use in grant proposals or research publications by using the strongest standards of reporting biomedical research and of evidence-based scientific writing. Assist in preparing materials for courses, teach laboratories, and hold office hours to help students. Participate in extramurally funded research projects with other faculty. Position Qualifications: Required Qualifications M.D., Ph.D., or comparable degree Record of scholarly collaborative publications in recognized peer-reviewed research journals Evidence of ability to contribute effectively toward the generation of extramural funding for collaborative clinical research Experience searching, retrieving, analyzing, synthesizing, summarizing, reporting and defending scientific information Excellent writing skills Ability to work independently toward completion of grant applications and professional journal submissions Experience with or strong interest in working in a community-oriented regional medical school environment Desire to build a clinical research career with a focus in minority health and geriatric populations Preferred Qualifications Successful record of grantsmanship; demonstrated experience with federal (especially NIH) and private foundation grant processes that lead to extramural funding for clinical research. Coursework in statistics and/or epidemiology Prior research work in health disparities
