Company Information: The Department of Statistical Science currently consists of 9 faculty and several others with adjunct/affiliate appointments. The department has a strong tradition in applied statistics with close ties to many programs including: bioinformatics, natural resources, ecology, and agriculture. The department offers a MS degree, graduate certificate, and undergraduate minor in statistics. Position Title: Assistant Professor of Statistical Science

Duties & Responsibilities: •Teaching graduate and undergraduate statistics courses (4 courses/year) •Carrying out an active research program in theoretical and/or applied statistics •Contributing to the development of the department’s graduate programs •Participating actively in interdisciplinary research programs

Position Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: •A doctoral degree in Statistics or a related field earned or expected by June 15, 2012 •Evidence of strong communication skills in the English language •Evidence of excellence in teaching Desirable Qualifications: •Evidence of expertise and research interests in systems biology, statistical genetics, or biometrics or related fields •Ability to complement existing teaching and research expertise (e.g., statistical genetics, bioinformatics, Bayesian statistics, statistical ecology, biometrics, behavioral statistics, quality and reliability engineering, statistical computing and spatial statistics) at the University of Idaho •Evidence of research accomplishments •Collaborative research experience with statisticians and scientists in other fields •Evidence of strong potential for success in attracting external funding
