Position Title: Research Scientist - Statistician (16728BR)

Duties & Responsibilities: Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business, is currently seeking a Research Scientist – Statistician in Johnston, IA to provide statistical consulting and programming to support and enable experimental planning, data analyses and statistics research supporting Input Trait Development related research programs in the Trait Characterization and Development (TCD) group. Contribute to the enhancement of existing models and to the development of new techniques for the analyses of various field experiments. Duties/Responsibilities: Provide experimental design and analysis consultation to scientists. Perform statistical analyses on complex field experiments or focused laboratory and/or greenhouse experiments using advanced statistical models. Serve on a multi-disciplinary team of scientists to develop an integrated data warehouse and analytical software system. Guide the development of statistical software and/or prototype systems to solve complex transgenic research questions. Work with other statisticians in Maize Product Development, the Data Analysis and Modeling team, and Regulatory Sciences to coordinate approaches to experimental design and statistical analyses as well as leverage study results across the organization. Continuously enhance our existing statistical methods and develop new techniques. May serve on specific research project teams. Keep updated on the most recent developments in statistics by participating in professional meetings and career development activities. Keep current on testing and processes for transgenic trait research in field crops.

Position Qualifications: PhD degree in statistics preferred, Master’s degree and 6-8 years of related experience required. Comprehensive knowledge of mixed-effect models, generalized linear mixed models, multivariate statistics and data visualization required. Strong communication skills and proven ability to work in a scientific team. Experience with agricultural or biological research preferred. Established competencies in at least two of SAS, S-PLUS/R or ASReml. Knowledge of SQL and Visual Basic a plus.
