The School of Public Health and Health Professions (SPHHP) of the University at Buffalo (UB) seeks candidates for founding Chair of the Department of Health Services Policy and Practice (HSPP), with strong potential for an endowed chair award. The SPHHP is fully accredited by the Council on Education in Public Health. UB is the largest and most comprehensive research-intensive university in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and is SUNY’s primary center for professional education and training. UB is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU).
Position Title:
Chair, Health Services Policy and Practice with strong potential for endowment
Duties & Responsibilities:
•Development and operation of the Department's academic programs • Hiring highly qualified faculty and encouraging/facilitating research productivity and teaching excellence • Ensuring that the Department is active in its service to the School, University, and community • Fostering a collegial and supportive environment in the Department for faculty, staff, and students while promoting and environment in which scholarly activity flourishes • Provide fiscal oversight for the Department • Serve as an advocate within the SPHHP on behalf of Department needs, while serving as an informed voice to ensure departmental understanding of SPHHP goals and objectives • Promote positive external relations.
Position Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a PhD, DrPH, MD, or equivalent and meet qualifications for appointment as Professor (preferred) or Associate Professor. A distinguished record of extramural funding and publications in health services, health policy, health management, or healthcare practice research is expected.
