Position Title: Department Chair

Duties & Responsibilities: Applications and nominations are invited for the position of Chair of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Clemson University. Qualifications include a rank of Full Professor, or equivalent, and proven leadership experience. Administrative experience is highly desirable. The Mathematical Sciences Department at Clemson has successfully integrated the areas of algebra and discrete mathematics; analysis; bioinformatics; computational mathematics; operations research; mathematical statistics and probability; and applied statistics into balanced educational programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. It offers B.A., B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degree programs. The department has achieved national recognition in a number of areas from pure and applied research to program and classroom innovation. The department houses 46 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, 28 lecturers, 12 visiting faculty, 8 full-time staff members, as well as 116 graduate and 231 undergraduate students. It is the largest unit within the College of Engineering and Sciences, and it contributes to the university with a significant service course load.
