Position Title:
Senior Data Analyst
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Senior Data Analyst will develop, support and deliver data analysis and business intelligence services such as dashboards, scorecards, reports, and associated data structures with large volumes of data. Responsibilities of the Senior Data Analyst include the analysis, interpretation, and reporting of clinical and quality data to support hospital leadership and clinical decision-making through regular reporting as well as small and large projects on an ad hoc basis. In this technical - functional role the Senior Data Analyst is responsible for interacting with clinical teams and business users to discuss requirements and to deliver BI solutions and reports. The Senior Data Analyst understands CHOP’s data warehouse models and is familiar with the clinical data and business information contained in it as well as the source systems. Selected patient data sets within the data warehouse are shaped into a cohesive dashboard system as used for improving care quality, patient safety, financial metrics, and clinical outcomes within bed units, patient care service lines, and clinical areas across the health system. The position works within a community of application developers to ensure all BI application development and programming activities and processes performed are conducted according to standard operating procedures and good programming skills. The Senior Data Analyst provides consultation to senior leaders, hospital and practice administration, physicians and clinical personnel, and management and supervisors on the use of existing reports, data analytics, and the planning for new sources of BI reports and data presentation.
Position Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required in Mathematics, Statistics, Business or Information Systems or 2-4 years of relevant work experience in clinical data analysis involving migrating data from production platforms into reporting repositories • 2+ years development experience with a range of BI & dashboard tools (along with strong knowledge of BI products and capabilities) • Advanced knowledge of SQL is essential • Advanced MS Excel and Access skills with the ability to create complex VBA code in reports • Experience managing medium to large data bases and data sets • Working knowledge of data warehousing, and the structure of multi-dimensional and relational database systems • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills an rigorous attention to detail • Understanding of data warehouse construction and the ability to collaborate with the Data Warehouse team in development • Good leadership and project management skills and ability to effectively communicate information across multiple levels of the organization is required • Experience in general reporting methodologies, including but not limited to charts, scheduled delivery of reports, ad-hoc • Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving, excellent communication and customer service skills required • Familiarity with health care domain is desired All CHOP employees who work in a patient building or who provide patient care are required to receive an annual influenza vaccine unless they are granted a medical or religious exemption.
