The Department of Mathematical Sciences is recognized as a leading department in mathematics, statistics, and mathematics education. We offer a B.S. in Mathematics with options in mathematics, applied mathematics, mathematics teaching, and statistics; an M.S. in Mathematics with options in mathematics and mathematics education; an M.S. in Statistics; a Ph.D. in Mathematics with emphases in mathematics and mathematics education; and a Ph.D. in Statistics. The mathematics education option for the M.S. in Mathematics is an online program. Research in statistics encompasses a broad range of theoretical and applied topics. Because the statisticians are actively engaged in interdisciplinary work, much of the statistical research is directed toward practical problems.
Position Title:
Assistant Professor (Two Openings)
Duties & Responsibilities:
Teaching, research and service. A commitment to excellence in teaching is essential. Instructional responsibilities include teaching lower division, upper division, and graduate courses in statistics as well as advising undergraduate and graduate students. Responsibilities also may include supervising lower division statistics courses. An active research program is essential. Service includes departmental, college, and university committee work, consulting with university scientists and engineers, and participation in professional organizations both locally and nationally.
Position Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or Statistics Education. Preference will be given to candidates who are broadly trained in statistical theory and methods, have university teaching experience (GTA acceptable), are interested in teaching and curriculum development of undergraduate statistics courses, are interested in biostatistics, statistical education, and/or interdisciplinary research and consultation. Salary Range:
Approximately $60,000 per year (9 month contract)
