Beaumont opened on January 24, 1955 as a 238-bed community hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Today, that hospital is a 1,061-bed major academic and referral center with Level 1 trauma status and Michigan's first Magnet-designated hospital for nursing excellence. The hospital ranks first in the United States for inpatient admissions and second for its number of surgeries. A second Beaumont hospital opened in Troy in 1977 as a 200-bed acute care community teaching hospital. Biostatistician RI
Duties & Responsibilities:
The biostatistician provides statistical consulting on study design, setup of data collection files, and proposed analyses. Perform data cleaning, statistical analyses and provide assistance with interpretation, which includes reports and preparation of statistical sections of manuscripts. Work with variety of study designs such as clinical trials, retrospective chart reviews, surveys, and basic science studies. Tasks include data management, statistical review of protocols, and statistical aspects of grant proposals including sample size calculations. May provide training on design of Excel files and research process to researchers and staff.
Position Qualifications:
Requirements: Masters preparation in Applied Statistics with statistical consulting, software engineering and supervisory experience. B.S. in Math/Statistics required. Minimum five years experience in biostats. Experience with design, set-up and management of databases. Technical writing skills, accomplished computer programming. Strong verbal skills and interpersonal skills. WORD, Excel, Power Point, Access and SAS software experience. Preferred: Experience using statistics in medical applications. Familiarity with variety of statistical methodology and multiple observations per person. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work with investigators with varying backgrounds. Ability to work both independently and on a team.
