Position Title:
Biostatistician
Duties & Responsibilities:
The incumbent is responsible for providing statistical and data handling support for biologicals clinical studies. The incumbent will provide consultation on experimental design and propose innovative methods of analysis and perform statistical analysis of data and prepare reports, graphs and tables as needed. Applies a working knowledge of biology/animal science to provide advice on the design of studies to obtain data required to identify trends anticipated from the study model. Performs study randomizations. Collaborates with Clinical Data Management or other personnel to ensure appropriate entry of trial data into a database, and prepares the final trial databases for analysis. Provides summarization and statistical analysis of data and interpretation of results; contributes to preparation of reports, listings, tables and/or graphs summarizing the results of the statistical analysis. Validates SAS programs and reviews statistical reports for accuracy. Collaborates with clinical staff to prepare publications reporting research results. Maintains an updated knowledge of Regulatory Agency requirements and abilities with respect to electronically submitted data. Prepares data and statistical programs for electronic submission to regulatory agencies as appropriate. Develops a working knowledge of USDA 9CFR study design and assessment criteria for antigens of interest to Merial. Participates in database design and software selection as well as validation of current or future validated systems. Makes recommendations for data collection, handling and analysis to optimize the value of available data sets. Serves as the interface between Data Management and the Clinical Operations data processing staff to ensure visibility of workload and allocation of work. Provide Management, Study Directors and Research Leaders with regular updates on the progress of data flow for major trials and workload within the Data Management/Biostatistics functions.
Position Qualifications:
A Ph.D. degree in a biostatistics with a minimum of 1 year of experience or a Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the area of biostatistics, preferably in clinical environment. - Broad knowledge of statistical methodologies as they apply to clinical studies. - Proficient with SAS software, including SAS/GRAPH, experience with StatXact and nQuery are highly desirable. - Proficiency in word processing (Microsoft Word), spreadsheet (Excel) and other PC software is highly desirable. - Familiar with concepts pertaining to relational databases and basic good data handling practices. - Strong organizational and documentation skills. - Excellent problem solving capabilities, oral and written communication skills, and ability to multi-task.
