The Geisinger Center for Health Research (located in Danville, PA) seeks investigators with an interest in comparative effectiveness research and methods or predictive modeling and the rapid translation of findings to practice. The Center offers unparalleled opportunities and resources for investigator initiated and collaborative research among biostatisticians, epidemiologists, and health services investigators. With strong ties to Geisinger clinical practices and the Geisinger Health Plan, Center investigators are able to develop, test, and more easily translate research into effective, real-world solutions.
Geisinger provides care to more than 2 million residents of Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania. The Geisinger Clinic encompasses a large primary care and multi-specialty practice, with 40 community practice clinics located across a wide geographic area. The healthcare system has used an electronic health record since 1996 and has recently developed a comprehensive data warehouse that integrates clinical, lab, claims, billing, and other data. Geisinger offers one of the largest, most complete, and highest quality longitudinal EHR systems in the country.
Using its unique resources, Geisinger has made a substantial commitment to comparative effectiveness, predictive modeling, and translational research. Successful candidates will have an opportunity to accelerate advances in these areas through the development and rapid application of novel methods.
A Ph.D. in biostatistics or other related disciplines is required. Applicants with expertise in causal modeling, machine learning and/or experience working with complex data are especially encouraged to apply. Rank of appointment will be commensurate with experience but new PhDs and recent postdoctoral fellows are encouraged to apply.
