Company Information: The mission of the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases is to support research into the causes, treatment, and prevention of arthritis and musculoskeletal and skin diseases, the training of basic and clinical scientists to carry out this research, and the dissemination of information on research progress in these diseases.

Position Title: Post-doctoral Fellow Clinical Sciences Section

Duties & Responsibilities: The Clinical Sciences Section (CSS) in the Office of the Clinical Director, National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) is recruiting a post-doctoral fellow. Research in the CSS is in the broad areas of clinical epidemiology and health services research. The CSS focuses on studies of health outcomes of patients with rheumatic diseases. This is accomplished using observational studies, clinical trials, and analyses of large administrative datasets. The section includes 3 physician investigators, a biostatistician, 3 post-doctoral fellows, and support personnel. The candidate will work with the physician investigators and biostatistician on projects related to health outcomes. The successful candidate will be expected to be skilled in study design, statistical computing, the application of statistics in epidemiology, longitudinal data analysis, and have interest and/or experience in working with administrative data. He/she will be responsible for leading analyses of independent projects, preparing manuscripts, and contributing to the methodological development of studies by other investigators in the section. The NIH has a broad community of epidemiologists statisticians with a diverse set of lectures, mini-courses, and resources for professional development. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in epidemiology statistics, health services research, economics or a related field. A record of peer-reviewed publications in one of these fields is helpful. Experience with programming using common statistical software is expected. Prior experience analyzing large administrative datasets would be advantageous. The successful candidate should have strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
