Position Title: Assistant Professor
Duties & Responsibilities: Applications for a 12 month research-track faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Biostatistics at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) are being sought. We are seeking applicants with training and research interest in clinical trials and other applications of statistical methods to biomedical sciences. Applicants should have at least two years experience supporting clinical and pre-clinical biomedical research especially in clinical trials and have extensive experience in statistical consulting. Primary responsibilities include taking an active part in the design and conduct of clinical studies independent methodological research and collaborations primarily with other faculty in the VCU community including the Massey Cancer Center and School of Medicine. In addition the successful applicant may be responsible for teaching and advising graduate students and will be expected to maintain both collaborative and/or methodological extramural grant support. The Department of Biostatistics has a 40+ year history in the VCU School of Medicine and is committed to excellence in both biostatistical research and graduate education. The department offers both MS and PhD programs in Biostatistics including a concentration in Genomic Biostatistics and an MS in Clinical Research in Biostatistics. Our biostatistics faculty students and staff collaborate with clinical investigators on the Medical College of Virginia Campus (which includes the Schools of Medicine Dentistry Pharmacy Nursing and Allied Health) in a wide variety of biomedical research projects. Located in Richmond Virginia VCU has established relationships with the Virginia Department of Health as well as local and regional health departments.
Position Qualifications: Ph.D. in biostatistics statistics or related field. Additionally experience in medical sciences is desirable. Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
