Position Title: Postdoctoral fellow

Duties & Responsibilities: Two postdoctoral fellow positions (2-3 year extension possible) in Statistical genetics and Bioinformatics are available in the Department of Biostatistics at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). One position will focus on haplotyping quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping identifying gene-gene and gene-environment interactions for complex traits with large pedigrees. The other position will focus on genome-wide association studies (GWAS) using genome-wide SNPs and gene expression data admixture mapping sequencing data analysis and multiple hypothesis testing. Other possible research topics for both positions include copy number variation analysis and statistical and computational epigenetics. There will be ample opportunities for both methodological and applied collaborative research (with human geneticists at VCU).

Position Qualifications:
Candidates should have substantial statistical (or mathematical) expertise have strong programming skills in C C++ R or a similar computer language and will hold a PhD in statistics biostatistics mathematics genetics computer science engineering computational biology or other related areas. Previous experience in quantitative genetics or computational biology such as family data analysis association studies or gene expression analysis is desirable but not essential. The postdoctoral fellows will work with Drs. Guimin Gao and Shumei Sun.
