Position Title:
Post-doc in computational genomics and drug target discovery
Duties & Responsibilities:
Our center aims to improve the disease understanding of psychiatric diseases and identify new drug targets. High-dimensional investigations where millions of data points are collected to measure genotypes, transcripts, and methylation markers through (next-generation) sequencing is considered a powerful tool to achieve these goals. To develop novel methods for extracting meaningful information from these large data sets, we seek a computational scientist to fill a postdoctoral research position. Programming skills in C++ is required and knowledge of other languages such as Perl and R is a plus. The post-doc will be sited at VCU’s Center for Biomarker Research and Personalized Medicine (http://www.pharmacy.vcu.edu/biomarker/) and work under the supervision of Dr. Van den Oord. Projects will be highly multidisciplinary and interactive involving other center members plus multiple external collaborators. The position is initially for two years and offers ample opportunities for publishing articles and career development.
