The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Department of Statistics & Operations Research is conducting a search for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level.The Departmental and University research environments offer numerous opportunities for collaborative work. Current Statistics faculty have active collaborations with Departmental colleagues working in probability, optimization, and stochastic modeling, as well as with faculty from the departments of Mathematics, Computer Science, Biology, Biostatistics, and the School of Medicine. In addition, there are many collaborative opportunities outside the University, in the larger Research Triangle area, including Duke, NCSU, SAMSI, and the EPA.
Position Title:
ASSISTANT PROFESSORSHIP IN STATISTICS
Duties & Responsibilities:
We seek candidates doing innovative work in modern areas of statistical theory, including, but not limited to, high-dimensional inference and sparsity, statistical analysis of networks, and machine learning. Applicants should have exhibited excellence, or excellent potential, in research, teaching, and external funding.
Position Qualifications:
The applicant should have (or be near completion of) a Ph.D. in Statistics or a closely related field, and should have strong theoretical training.
