Company Information: The Georgia Genomics Facility (GGF) and Institute of Bioinformatics (IOB) are partnering to build a data analysis facility that forges collaboration between multiple units at the University of Georgia (UGA). GGF builds on a foundation of DNA core lab services and the IOB is a multidisciplinary unit with faculty and students in a variety of informatics specialty areas.

Position Title: Assistant Research Scientist - Bioinformatician

Duties & Responsibilities: Work with an interdisciplinary team of scientists from throughout UGA and Georgia, including ecologists, geneticists, statisticians, plant scientists and biomedical researchers. Build data analysis infrastructure and directly facilitate genomic research of UGA faculty.

Position Qualifications: A PhD is required. An outstanding scientist with research expertise and skills in bioinformatics related to genetic and genomic analysis such as: analysis of 454, Illumina, and other next-generation DNA sequencing data, SNP and genome annotation, gene expression analysis, genome and transcriptome assembly, metagenomics, pathway analysis and relational databases.
