Peace Endowed Eminent Scholar Chair, in Biostatistics, in the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health (JPHCOPH). This is a tenure track faculty position, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The JPHCOPH is seeking a nationally recognized Biostatistics scholar with a strong history of extramurally funded research with experience in teaching and service. Currently, the JPHCOPH offers the Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degrees, with 5 emphasis areas in Biostatistics, Community Health, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, and Health Policy & Management and the Master of Healthcare Administration (M.H.A.). In addition, 3 Doctor of Public Health (Dr.P.H.) degrees in Biostatistics, Community Health Education and Behavior, and Public Health Leadership are offered. Georgia is an Open Records state. Position Title:
Karl E. Peace Endowed Eminent Scholar Chair in Biostatistics and Director of the KEP Center for Biostatistics, Rank - Associate/Full Professor
Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Associate Dean, the position requires a scholar with a significant history of conducting and building externally funded research. A terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., Dr.P.H., Sc.D.) is required. The successful applicant will be actively involved in externally funded Biostatistics and cross discipline research (grants and contracts), teach graduate-level courses to students in the Dr.P.H. in Biostatistics program; and provide Biostatistical service/outreach to the public health community. The successful applicant will be expected to provide academic and research advisement to students, promote and sustain transdisciplinary research, serve on committees, and participate in official activities at the College and university levels. The position is a 12-month appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary may be supplemented with additional research support.
Position Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: • Doctorate (e.g., Ph.D., Dr.P.H., Sc.D.) in Biostatistics, Statistics, or other related field • Proven record of securing external funding to support Biostatistics research • Proven record of providing consultation services to support research in public health • Proven record of substantive publications in top tier journals • Proven ability to administer a productive research Center • Commitment to teaching, research, and service that is consistent with the College’s vision and mission • Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning as evidenced by a presentation during the campus visit with students and faculty • Demonstrated commitment to service within the University, the profession and community • Ability to contribute to a positive work environment in the College and University • Minimum of 4 years university teaching experience at the assistant professor level is required for the rank of associate professor • Minimum of 5 years university teaching experience at the associate professor level is required for the rank of professor Preferred Qualifications: • Demonstrated commitment to research and service for elimination of health disparities, particularly with rural and underserved populations • Interest in working in diverse academic and professional learning communities • Graduate public health training from a CEPH accredited school or program and/or knowledge of academic public health or public health practice
