Position Title:
Bioinformatics Analyst
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Maintains software, hardware and the network in a bioinformatics setting or molecular modeling laboratory. • Supervises regular updates and recommends state-of-the-art enhancements. • Analyzes high throughput screening data and performs structure activity analyses to generate predictive correlations. • Applies a limited range of molecular modeling tools to refinement of high throughput screening hits. Presents the models in a form that allows users to make decisions concerning the direction of an experimental program. • Performs related responsibilities as required. • Candidate with hands-on research experience in data generated from next generation sequencing technologies are preferred. • Additional demonstrated competence in bioinformatics including Perl, SQL, PHP, and CGI-scripting is preferable. • Strong skills in microarray data analysis, SNP arrays, CpG methylation arrays, biological pathway analysis, phylogenetics, genome comparison and polymorphism analysis are desired, and knowledge about vaccine research/technology will be an added advantage. • Candidates will also have a demonstrated competence in appropriate computer languages including Perl, SQL, PHP and cgi-scripting; Operating Systems including UNIX and UNIX variants, Windows, and/or Macintosh; Relational Database including knowledge of Sybase and SQL. • The Bioinformatics Analyst will have a solid knowledge of molecular biology as it relates to DNA sequences, sequencing technologies and genomics. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organization and time management skills, ability to meet schedules, and the ability to collaborate across a multi-disciplinary team are important qualifications. • Pre-processing of and data analysis for research, presentation, and publication using appropriate bioinformatics tools and a variety of database and software applications.
Position Qualifications:
A master's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, bioinformatics or related field. Two years of experience in bioinformatics and/or computational chemistry.
Salary Range:
Salary will be based on experience and education.
