Position Title: Assistant/Associate Professor of Statistics

Duties & Responsibilities: Responsibilities may include teaching up to four courses per semester including graduate courses, courses for undergraduate mathematics majors, and service courses. Preference will be given to candidates who can lead the development of courses in bioinformatics. Applications must include a cover letter addressing the above requirements, a curriculum vita, all graduate transcripts, a brief statement of teaching philosophy, a brief research prospectus and three recent letters of recommendation at least one of which addresses communication skills and teaching potential. Finalists must successfully complete an interview process including a teaching demonstration and a talk to the Department’s. Review of applications will begin on January 10, and will continue until the position is filled.

Position Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, bioinformatics or a closely related field by August 2012; have excellent communication and teaching skills; and must be engaged in a viable program of ongoing research. They must have an interest in developing curriculum and supervising student research as part of a growing Masters Degree Program in Applied Statistics.
